About Mrs. Petty:

My name is Kayla Petty and I am the school counselor at Big Island Elementary School! I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Liberty University. This is my 3rd year here at Big Island Elementary. I love being your school counselor and know that I have the best job in the world!

As a school counselor, I provide a wide variety of services to meet children’s academic, social, and emotional needs. I serve as an advocate for all students by putting supports in place to help them reach their highest potential! The services I provide include:

  • Classroom counseling lessons
  • Small group counseling
  • Individual and crisis counseling
  • Consultation with teachers, parents, and administrators
  • Outside referrals
  • And so much more!

Confidentiality Statement:

A student's right to privacy and confidentiality it the basis for an effective counseling relationship. Confidentiality ensures that school counselors won't share students' disclosures with others except when the student authorizes it or when there is a clear and present danger to the student and/or others.
